Who we are

Each 1 Teach 1, Inc. was founded in 2020 at the height of COVID-19, as a minority-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in Frederick, MD that provides Social Emotional Learning techniques to vulnerable youth in under-resourced and underserved communities. At it's 2020 inception, it began operating as an afterschool and summer youth program and has since expanded into before, during, after-school, and summer programming. E1T1 meets youth and their families directly where they are, providing various Social Emotional Learning (SEL) techniques using yoga, meditation, and mindful activities practiced in a safe and encouraging group setting.

Each 1 Teach 1, Inc. provides our unique trauma-informed Social Emotional Learning services to children and youth in grades Pre-K through 5.

"Studies have shown some negative events in a child’s life, known as Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), can have lasting effects on long-term health and well-being. Childhood trauma can lead to the adult onset of chronic diseases, such as heart disease, depression, drug abuse, violence and being a victim of violence. While ACEs are related to health and behaviors later in life, they are not a guarantee of anything. Adults can provide a strong support system and work to strengthen a child’s resilience. This can help children successfully cope with life’s challenges and lessen the consequences of ACEs. "

Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission is to teach youth how to identify their emotions and effectively communicate their needs.

We recognize that vulnerable, underserved communities benefit from additional resources. Through a trauma-informed lens, we provide on-site wellness programs utilizing yoga, meditation, and mindful activities to facilitate social and emotional learning strategies in a safe and encouraging environment.

Our Vision is to empower youth to express themselves positively.

By introducing concepts of mindfulness to youth and their families, we hope to provide the social and emotional skills needed to reduce stress and anxiety to increase their attention span, reduce behavior problems, and allow students to have better academic performance resulting in a better quality of life.
